The Fenway has so much more to offer than just baseball! As an eight-year Fenwickian (Fenway resident), I am happy to share all of my favorite free things to do in my neighborhood!
Explore the Fens
The “Central Park” of Fenway is beautiful and vibrant any time of the year. Check out my post about all the wildlife that can be found in the Fens!

Play Frisbee* in the Roberto Clemente Field
*or football, soccer, softball… up to you.
The field in the middle of the Fens is perfect for a pick-up game with friends. It’s surrounded by a track and has a basketball court next door too. The paths that criss-cross the park are perfect for walking, running, bike riding, skateboarding, and roller blading too!
Free Museum Days

Check out the Museum of Fine Arts for free any Wednesday after 4pm (donations are suggested). The museum is also free on many federal holidays.
If you have a Bank of America or Merrill Lynch card, visit the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum for free on the first weekend of every month. Students at participating universities and anyone named “Isabella” can also get in for free!
Harvard’s Warren Anatomical Museum, home of Phineas Gage’s skull, is free and open to the public on weekdays.
Have a Picnic at BU Beach
Not a real beach, but a favorite study spot for BU students that overlooks the Charles River. Take the bridge over Storrow Drive to get an even better view of the river from one of the docks.
Play Cornhole at 401 Park

The building formerly known as the Landmark Center (and, before that, the Sears building) has taken on a new life and is now home to Time Out Market, a high-end eatery featuring two bars and some of the best chefs from across the city.
The green in front of 401 Park is a gorgeous new gathering area with cornhole sets, perfect for people watching after dinner.
Watch the Game
This one’s not quite free, but for the price of a beer, you can watch the Red Sox game from a rooftop deck (Baseball Tavern) or from under the bleachers (Bleacher Bar). It’s pretty crowded before and after the game, but during the game all the fans with tickets clear out and you can get a pretty good view!
